«Carmen Martín Gaite y el collage: un diario en libertad» exhibition

Until 15 September 2025, Casa del Lector is organising an exhibition that rediscovers Carmen Martín Gaite from an unusual angle: collage. This exhibition brings together a collection of works made by the author during her stay in New York at the beginning of the 1980s, a period marked by artistic experimentation and creative freedom. The collages, conceived almost as a personal diary, combine images, words and colours to capture impressions, emotions and everyday scenes through a profoundly intimate gaze. In addition to exploring this visual facet of the author, the exhibition is complemented by parallel activities such as talks, workshops and guided tours, offering a space for reflection on the work of one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Spanish literature. Admission is free and the visit promises to be both revealing and inspiring.
