Festival of artistic interventions in Lavapiés “CALLE 2026”

Lavapiés is once again transformed into a space where art emerges before our eyes: the CALLE festival returns and once again takes over the streets, façades and shop windows of the neighbourhood.

Around 50 artists are taking part in this thirteenth edition, each of whom works with a specific point in the neighbourhood: a wall, a shop window or the entrance to a shop. In this way, a fragmented yet connected map takes shape: a route with no beginning or end that the viewer reconstructs for themselves.

The festival's visual language remains open: murals, graffiti, lettering and illustration coexist here. The works are not isolated, but integrated into their surroundings: they take account of the architecture, the scale of the streets and the rhythm of the neighbourhood, and are therefore perceived as part of everyday life rather than as isolated objects.

Among the projects is a collective work in which the participants convey personal memories through colour, creating a shared visual layer linked to memory and experience. Students, young creators and guest artists, including international collaborations, also take part in the programme.

The festival maintains a link with the local environment: most of the works are created in collaboration with shops, cafés and workshops, supporting small businesses and integrating them into the artistic process.
