Exhibition Bunny. Talia Chetrit

From 6 June to 30 August, the first major solo exhibition in Spain by American artist Talia Chetrit will take place here, included in the PHotoESPAÑA 2026 programme. The Bunny project is dedicated to her inner world and how it is reflected in visual images, sometimes direct and sometimes deliberately constructed.

The exhibition is based on a combination of portraiture, staged photography and still life. Chetrit does not separate them by genre, but creates a single flow of images in which frames from different years and moods come together in an overall structure.

The artist works with the theme of closeness and personal space, but does so through tense staging. References to classical painting are easily recognisable in her photographs; however, familiar subjects—family, friends, corporeality, intimacy—are presented through play with role, pose and distance. This creates a sense of a constant shift in viewpoint.

The title Bunny sets the tone for the whole series: abrupt, somewhat provocative and, at the same time, theatrical. In the works, the boundary between document and staging is blurred, and photography is perceived not only as an image, but also as a physical object. Different formats coexist in the exhibition, from small black-and-white snapshots to large colour works that literally occupy the gallery space.
