Exhibition «Dance, Dance, Damn You»
Matadero Madrid will host an immersive installation that turns a dance floor into an experience about memory and uncertainty.

From 11 September to 24 January, Nave 0 at Matadero Madrid will present Dance, Dance, Damn You, the new installation by artist Carlos Aires, included in the Abierto x Obras programme. Conceived specifically for this space, the exhibition transforms the former slaughterhouse cold room into an immersive route in which the public become part of the work.
The installation fills the venue with more than a hundred metal props and around twenty screens that engage with the building’s architecture and with the traces left by a fire that occurred years ago. From that memory, Carlos Aires constructs a setting in which fragility, resistance and movement coexist in the same space.
Visitors will make their way around a dance floor surrounded by a sculptural structure and an enveloping soundscape, in which projected figures and metal elements create an atmosphere somewhere between celebration and unease. The exhibition, curated by José Luis Romo, is also Carlos Aires’s first solo show at a public institution in Madrid.
