El Prado will host a new exhibition devoted to Sorolla, Picasso and Gris.
The new exhibition «Art and social transformations in Spain (1885-1910)» will explore the impact of social changes on art at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition includes works from around three hundred years. Many of them are unique and have never been exhibited before. Visitors will be surprised by large-format paintings, sculptures and photographs.
The exhibition seems to link irrelevant and different styles: Sorolla’s naturalist style, Picasso’s new expressive capacities. They speak of the same reality and reflect social life, but in such different ways. The exhibition deals with social issues: education, illness, medicine, strikes. In general, everything that society has experienced for 25 years.
