Exhibition «Antonio Palacios. The Metro Architect»

Antonio Palacios is the face of the Metro. The Galician architect was behind the creation of the capital’s landmark buildings: Palacio de Cibeles and the Cuatro Caminos depots. Several events were held throughout the year in his memory. Metro stations were symbolised, free events were held and an illustrated map was produced. This month, a major free exhibition was also opened at the Real Casa de Correos.

It is a retrospective of Palacios’s work, showing his first plans from 1917 and all his works through to the most recent. The exhibition also tells the story of the Metro, from its beginnings to the construction of the first lines. The exhibition will feature 200 large-scale graphic and audiovisual works, models and plans. There is also a historical reproduction of Puerta del Sol and the Gran Vía lift pavilion.
