Until 29 June, Museo de América invites you to immerse yourself in the magical world of «One Hundred Years of Solitude» through the artist’s eyes. The exhibition presents 36 engravings by the Colombian master Pedro Villalba Ospina, a visual ode to Gabriel García Márquez’s novel.
Each work is a poetic interpretation of the images, landscapes and characters of Macondo, reinterpreted through the prism of magical realism. This project grew out of the artist’s long-standing passion for the book, which he reread more than twenty times before beginning to create the illustrations in his Bosque Primario Bogotá studio.
The project had the approval of Márquez himself and his agent Carmen Balsells, and the engravings on display are the result of more than two decades of work combining literature and fine arts.
