The Exhibition Hall of the Joaquín Leguina Regional Library of the Community of Madrid is hosting, until 27 July, an exhibition on Madrid’s musical evolution from the 18th to the 20th century. It reveals the city’s cultural identity through the scores, stages and key figures that forged its musical history.
First at court and later among the aristocracy and bourgeoisie, Madrid attracted musicians from all over the world. In the 19th century, the city became a centre for foreign artists, consolidating its status as a cultural hub.
The exhibition, curated by Professor Ana Benavides, highlights the importance of the Library’s musical heritage and its role in the publishing and music industries.
