“Aguafortistas” Exhibition

About this event
The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando has opened the exhibition “Aguafortistas”, devoted to metal engraving, which in the 19th century was the principal artistic tool of masters from Goya to Baroja.
The exhibition, assembled from the holdings of the Calcografía Nacional, spans more than two hundred years of etching history, from the influence of French etchers to the heyday of the Spanish school of engraving. Rare works by Mariano Fortuny, Carlos de Esa and members of the Generation of ’98 are on display, their lines capturing the spirit of the age.
