Museo del Prado offers visitors a unique experience: discovering art from a botanical perspective. The new themed route, entitled “Botanical Walk through the Prado”, invites visitors into the collection’s masterpieces through the richness of the plants and flowers represented in them. This innovative approach makes it possible to unravel the hidden meanings and symbolism that natural elements bring to artistic creations.
Available from 28 October to 30 March, this themed route invites visitors to explore 26 carefully selected works, highlighting more than 40 plant species. Designed by botanist and horticulturist Eduardo Barba Gómez, the route spans from classical Roman sculpture to 18th-century paintings, showing how plants have been a source of inspiration through the centuries. Among the pieces included are iconic works by masters such as Patinir, Fra Angelico, Titian, Velázquez, Rubens and Zurbarán, offering a renewed perspective on their creations.
