At Teatro Infanta Isabel, from 1 to 17 May, the play «Zarzuela con Vermut» will be performed at weekends, presenting zarzuela as a living musical story linked to the characters’ memories and personal histories.
The work is conceived as a journey through the genre. It features familiar scenes and less usual musical numbers, which often remain in the shadows of the repertoire but add depth.
At the centre of the plot is a woman named Paloma, played by Milagros Martín and María Rodríguez. At one point, her life fills with memories that return in the form of musical episodes.
Through these scenes, excerpts from classic works appear, including «La revoltosa», «El barberillo de Sevilla», «La del manojo de rosas» and «La Gran Vía».
