Strawberry Train

Since 1984, a historic train has run between Madrid and Aranjuez along the route inaugurated in 1851 by Queen Isabella II. The line was the second on the Iberian Peninsula and was initially conceived as part of the route to the Mediterranean Sea, but was extended to the palace for the greater convenience of the royal family. The train departs from the Railway Museum, located in the 19th-century Delicias station building.

During the journey, strawberries are offered to passengers, and the ticket inspectors, dressed in period costumes, create an atmosphere of time travel. The train has carriages from the 1920s, 1940s and 1960s and a capacity of 385 passengers.
