Show «Spanish Horror Story»

At Espacio Gran Vía de Madrid, a work is being prepared in which horror films are dismantled and recomposed on stage as comedy. The play, Spanish Horror Story, will premiere in May and turn familiar fears into a succession of absurd, lively theatrical episodes.

On stage there are séances, «by-the-book exorcisms», strange dolls and spirits that act more like participants in an absurd show than frightening entities. Everything happens amid constant mishaps, in which any ritual quickly spins out of control.

The story revolves around two friends convinced that they know how to deal with the paranormal. They take on a new case, but the space around them begins to react unpredictably, turning the investigation into a chain of ever more absurd situations.

Familiar elements of horror are immediately recognisable here, but they work differently. The light flickers, objects «live» a life of their own, sounds appear at the least opportune moment and tension is constantly broken by a comic gesture, so fear gradually dissolves into play.
