Musical “The Sound of Music”

From 1 to 26 July, Teatro Alcázar will host a new stage version of the famous musical by Theatre Properties, directed by Silvia Villau, creator of shows such as Annie, the Musical and Tarzan, the Musical.

The action moves to Austria in the late 1930s. The story begins in a convent, where Maria lives, and continues at Captain von Trapp’s house, where she goes to work as nanny to his seven children. Gradually, strict order gives way to music, closeness and new feelings, while family life changes amid the troubling historical events shaking Europe.

The visual aspect of the show is structured as a series of detailed spaces — from the convent walls to Alpine landscapes — creating a coherent atmosphere of the period.

The music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II remains the foundation of the production, turning it into a classic story of family, freedom and change for audiences of different generations.
