Show «Romeo y Julieta»

«In the end, they all die, but what a laugh we have?» — this sentence opens the new version of «Romeo y Julieta» at the La Butaca Amarilla theatre. The plot, characters and atmosphere of the play remain the same, but the director approaches them from a completely different point of view: with irony.

Two teenagers fall in love despite the whole world: a story so recognisable that it is easy to see our own children, nieces, nephews or ourselves in our youth in the protagonists. It is precisely this closeness that makes it possible to see a familiar plot from a new perspective: tragic and, at the same time, ridiculously absurd.

Héctor Urién, known for his unexpected interpretations of classics, is responsible for the staging. This is the first time he has staged a work by Shakespeare, but, as in his previous works, he promises the public not so much a drama as a true theatrical celebration.
