«Plazas con Alma 2026» Festival

Carabanchel once again fills its squares and parks with culture through a new edition of Plazas con Alma, a programme that turns public space into a large open-air stage. Until 20 December, the district will host 61 free activities including concerts, dance shows, theatrical events and literary gatherings aimed at audiences of all ages.

This year’s edition broadens its reach with ten venues spread across the neighbourhood, adding three new spaces as well. The initiative invites people to explore Carabanchel through a cultural route linking different points in the district, each with its own identity and specific programme.

Plaza de la Palmera is geared towards family activities and literary gatherings, while Jardín de las Asociaciones focuses on dramatised readings and word-based formats. Dance takes centre stage both in Emperatriz María de Austria Park, with SBK sessions, and in the Violeta Parra auditorium and Manolito Gafotas Park, dedicated to urban expressions.

Music will also play a prominent role: Salvador Allende Park will host emerging young bands; Pan Bendito will offer concerts focused on flamenco and Spanish music; and Puente de Toledo will become a venue for classical music performances. For its part, Calle del Toboso will be dedicated to the performing arts, while Plaza de la Inmaculada Concepción will combine workshops with open-air film screenings.

With this programme, Plazas con Alma reinforces its aim of bringing culture closer to everyday neighbourhood life and asserting squares and parks as spaces for gathering, participation and community life.
