Noche de Zarzuela at San Isidro

On 15 August, the Cloister of Instituto San Isidro will host Noche de Zarzuela, a concert included in the Veranos de la Villa programme that will bring together some of the most representative pages of the Spanish lyric repertoire.

The evening will be led by soprano Carmen Avivar, tenor Eduardo Sandoval and pianist José Ramón Martín, who will perform a selection of romanzas, duets and instrumental pieces inspired by the Spanish musical tradition, with a particular focus on Madrid and its performing heritage.

The programme will cover works by composers fundamental to the genre, such as Pablo Sorozábal, Manuel Penella, Manuel Fernández Caballero, José Serrano, Federico Chueca, Enrique Granados and Ruperto Chapí. For around 75 minutes, the audience will be able to rediscover zarzuela through a concert bringing together some of its best-known melodies in a historic outdoor setting.
