The Jury Experience «Death by AI: who pays the price?»

In Madrid, the trial unfolds once more not on screen or in the news, but directly before spectators, who become immersed in the case from the first testimony.

The new play The Jury Experience transports participants to a trial over a traffic accident involving an autonomous vehicle. One person died, but the further the proceedings advance, the harder it becomes to understand where the boundary of responsibility lies.

Spectators are offered the role of jury members. They listen to the witnesses, compare contradictory versions and unravel the details of the accident, in which there was no driver at the wheel. Little by little, the case moves away from the usual logic of a trial and becomes a dispute over who is responsible for the decisions made by the vehicle.

Each new testimony changes the picture of what happened, and the process itself resembles reconstructing a story from disconnected fragments, in which no version seems definitive.
