Show ‘Burrow’

On 30 and 31 May, in the Sala de Cristal at Teatros del Canal, the company Farrés Brothers i Cia will present the play ‘Tamborín’, a shadow-puppet show based on a children’s tale by Ernest Thompson Seton about nature and animals.

The play is based on an early 20th-century short story which, through a simple situation, addresses themes such as fear, caution and the first steps towards independence. The story is constructed so that it is understandable to children, while leaving room for a deeper reading.

The protagonist is a little rabbit who stays alone in the burrow while his mother goes out in search of food. During that time, different animals approach him and invite him outside, but he prefers to stay indoors, choosing the safety of the space familiar to him.

Later, a mysterious sound appears, breaking the usual tranquillity and awakening the little rabbit’s curiosity, which proves stronger than fear, and he decides to go out without knowing that the source of the noise may be dangerous.

The play shows a moment every child knows: the world beyond what is familiar seems attractive and unsettling at the same time.
