‘Madrid in the sky’ drone show

On the afternoon of 2 May, in Madrid, the sky over the La Latina neighbourhood will become the stage for a light show.

1,000 drones will take off simultaneously in Cuña Verde park. They will occupy different heights and begin moving in synchronisation, forming clear figures. Images related to the city’s history, its symbols and cultural motifs will gradually take shape from points of light. Each scene lasts a short time, then dissolves and gives way to the next.

The movement of the drones is conceived as a continuous sequence. There are no abrupt transitions or pauses. The shapes seem to merge into one another, changing the pattern in the sky every few seconds. Sometimes they are silhouettes, sometimes recognisable symbols, sometimes abstract compositions that form directly above the spectators.
