Show «Los bufos madrileños»

Madrid's Teatro de la Comedia hosts «Los Bufos Madrileños» until 25 January, a show that revives the figure of Francisco Arderius and the comic zarzuela «Los órganos de Móstoles». This work offers a fresh perspective on how one man transformed the Spanish theatrical landscape, introducing Offenbach's opéra bouffe and founding his own company, initially called «Los Bufos Madrileños» and later known as «Bufos Arderius».

The staging transports the audience to 19th-century Spain, a time when género chico, revue and cuplés conquered the stages, while Arderius and his company opened new opportunities for emerging playwrights and composers.

According to the director, the production seeks to pay tribute not only to the great names of that era, but also to all the actors, musicians and creators who have brought theatre to life, celebrating their legacy in the past, present and future.
