In Madrid, audiences will have the unique opportunity to experience all the dramatic force of Federico García Lorca’s classic tragedy in an abridged version. In the new version, Paloma Mejía preserves the poetic depth of the original, combining symbolic staging, a soundtrack and a rhythm carefully conceived for the play, completely immersing the audience in Lorca’s tense and emotionally intense world.

The action takes place in rural Spain at the beginning of the 20th century. Bernarda Alba’s widow forces her five daughters to observe strict mourning, isolating them from the outside world, and together with their mother and her maid creates an oppressive atmosphere charged with internal tension. The conflict between personal desires and social pressure gives rise to an acute drama in which freedom, power and moral restrictions intertwine.
