Show «Juana La Loca»

The stage at Teatros Luchana is devoted to the story of Juana I of Castile, the queen whose name was uttered for centuries with the epithet «the Mad». The play was created by Pepe Cibrián Campoy, and her fate on stage comes to life through the performance of Nicolás Pérez Costa.

It is an attempt to listen to the loneliness of a woman who found herself at the pinnacle of power and outside it at the same time. Juana inherited the crowns of Castile, Navarre and Aragon, but her reign was reduced to a mere formality. Her father isolated her and, later, her son did the same.

Between the interests of the State and family decisions, the boundary between politics and personal tragedy gradually blurs.

The play is structured as a confessional monologue in which a single actor gives voice, in turn, to those who surrounded the queen.
