José Maldonado’s show «Galería»

On 26 and 27 August, the Cloister of Instituto San Isidro will be the setting for Galería, one of the Veranos de la Villa proposals in which flamenco dancer and creator José Maldonado combines flamenco with live painting.

The production unfolds in four stage pieces inspired by essential figures of Spanish culture: Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca, Salvador Dalí and Carmen Amaya. Each explores their artistic universe through movement, music and visual creation, transforming the stage into a space where different disciplines converse with one another.

Lasting approximately 50 minutes, Galería offers a contemporary view of flamenco, moving away from the traditional format to turn each performance into an ephemeral work in which dance and painting are born before the audience at the same time.
