Flamenco Show at El Cortijo

In the Vallecas neighbourhood of Madrid is the El Cortijo tavern, opened by the flamenco dancers Melody and Carolina. This venue arose as an attempt to return flamenco to the everyday urban environment and bring it closer to the public.

One-hour performances take place here with a guitarist, a singer and two or three dancers. The programme combines different styles of flamenco. Lighter, rhythmic passages give way to others that are more restrained and profound, creating a lively flow throughout the evening.

The music and dance unfold directly on stage through interaction between the artists. Improvisation plays an important role, so each performance sounds and looks different.
