Leo Rivera presents his creation to us. El secuestro makes us laugh at ourselves and at events. It is about taking matters into our own hands when those who should look after our welfare ignore us.
Paco is desperate: he is about to lose his job because the market where he has worked all his life is about to close. He has a daughter, a young daughter, and now an uncertain future. So he decides to kidnap the minister’s son, whose approval is needed for the closure. But his sister and brother-in-law arrive. And the situation becomes more complicated. This comic yet profound play is about ordinary people and politicians, about a family in love and about not giving up.
