From 10 February to 12 April, Sala Guirau will host this staging directed by Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente and adapted by Ignacio García May. The play follows Liubov Ranevskaya, who returns to her family home after years in Paris, only to face the difficult decision of selling the estate under the threat of financial ruin.

The garden, a symbol of memories, beauty and times gone by, is at risk: Lopakhin, the son of former serfs, proposes cutting down the cherry trees to build homes, thus reflecting the rise of the new bourgeoisie against the decline of the aristocracy.

With a mixture of poetry, subtle humour and melancholy, the play invites the audience to reflect on the passage of time, resistance to change and the fragility of what is lost.
