Laura Garmo once again brings Luisa Carnés's play to the stage. Actress Mamen Camacho plays Eva, the protagonist of the 1966 monologue, who, on the eve of her birthday, faces her anxieties, unfulfilled dreams and pressure from society.
The play unfolds in a bourgeois setting, exploring timeless issues such as gender inequality, loneliness and the fear of ageing. Carnés's text remains relevant and prompts reflection on the role of women in today's society.
Luisa Carnés, a journalist and writer and a member of Las Sinsombrero, remained in the shadows for a long time, but her work has now re-emerged thanks to reissues and new productions that have once again brought it to the public's attention.
