Teatro Español revives Carmen de Burgos’s interviews and allows us to hear the actresses of the early 20th century not in their roles, but in moments of sincere conversation.

Until 8 March, Teatro Español will present a new stage version of texts by Carmen de Burgos, prepared by Inés Collado and Cristina Marín-Miró. The proposal is based on a 1905 book that compiles conversations with actresses, singers and dancers of her time.
The work brings back these voices without the distance of a museum. The interviews become a living dialogue about work, love, fears and the desire to be heard. Carmen de Burgos sought in her time to see the real woman behind the stage image, and the staging continues that attentive gaze in the present context.
