The story of Spanish anarchist women will be told in cabaret style, with daring songs, live music, and biting humour.

From 11 September to 11 October, «LIBRES!!!» will be performed in the sala Juan de la Cruz del Teatro de La Abadía. The play revives the memory of the women who fought for freedom and equality in Spain before and during the Spanish Civil War.
The plot centres on Mujeres Libres, an organisation founded by anarchist women workers in 1936. The movement championed women's emancipation, education, equal rights, and social transformation. In just three years, it brought together more than twenty thousand members.
The historical material is presented in the style of cabaret. Music, songs, sarcasm, and provocative humour transport the audience to the cafés cantantes and small theatres where women found spaces to express themselves, assert their freedom, and challenge the patriarchal order. The production presents the struggle not as a series of solemn speeches, but as a living space for creativity, laughter, and bold ideas.
On stage will appear the founders of Mujeres Libres: Lucía Sánchez Saornil, Mercedes Comaposada y Amparo Poch y Gascón. The play will also feature Emma Goldman, Federica Montseny, la Pasionaria, and the Spanish Republic itself personified.
