Christmas festival «Madrid, a city with a star»

Spain’s capital once again celebrates magical Christmas under the glow of the Estrella de Belén. These are days to spend time with loved ones and enjoy Christmas activities.

The city will welcome Christmas with music. From 17 to 29 December there will be musical parades. Madrid residents will be able to enjoy cantatas and Christmas hymns to the rhythm of jazz in the squares and on the most emblematic balconies.

The festive route cannot do without classic nativity scenes. This year, for the first time, the sea is included in the route. From 23 November to 5 January, the nativity scenes at Museo de San Isidro, Museo de Historia de Madrid and Ayuntamiento de Madrid can be visited.

You will be able to stroll through traditional holiday markets in the many squares. This year they are located from Arganzuela to Carabanchel.

The trail of the Estrella de Belén will also illuminate, in the form of an artistic intervention, one of the city’s most emblematic churches: San Jerónimo el Real, a chimerical polychrome fresco. In addition, the installation «Borealis», created by Swiss artist Dan Acher, will transform Patio Central del Condeduque with the magical light of the northern lights.

Matadero Madrid will be the meeting point where some of the most important Christmas events and the most family-oriented programmes will take place. In the fifth edition of «Madrid, Navidad de encuentro», Estados Unidos is the guest country.

The most unforgettable moment will once again be the Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos. On 5 January, Estrella Morente will take part in the concert. In addition, this is a charitable action, with all proceeds going to Fundación Aladina.
