«La Noche en Blanco (y Amarillo)» Festival

On the night of 6 to 7 June, Madrid will take on a different appearance. After sunset, museums, cultural centres and historic spaces which are generally already closed at that hour will begin to open their doors. A special edition of La Noche en Blanco y Amarillo, prepared for the visit of Pope Leo XIV, will turn the city centre into a single nocturnal route through exhibitions, concerts and architecture.

This year, more than fifteen venues have joined the initiative. Until late at night, el Prado, the Reina Sofía, the Thyssen, the Galería de las Colecciones Reales, CaixaForum, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, the Templo de Debod and the Museo de Historia de Madrid will be open. At many of these venues, admission will be free and visitors will be able to see not only the permanent collections, but also the temporary exhibitions.

Each venue will have its own atmosphere. In some, the night will unfold amid the silence of museum rooms and old paintings; in others, amid the light of contemporary installations, music and nocturnal gatherings in interior courtyards. Some Madrid churches of historical and artistic value will also open their doors at an unusual time, and the city will gradually become a place that is in no hurry to go to sleep.

There is a specific programme dedicated to music and the performing arts. Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía will offer a night-time concert, and Teatros del Canal will present the «No la debemos dormir» series of performances, with Spanish dance, concerts and DJ sessions.
