Aranjuez Balloon Festival

On 5 October, one of the most spectacular and colourful festivals arrives in Madrid. Once again, coloured balloons will rise into the sky as part of the festival.

This year marks the festival’s tenth anniversary. The festival pays tribute to the first manned balloon flight by the Montgolfier brothers on 5 July 1784. Since 2014, the Aranjuez Balloon Festival has been held at Plaza de Parejas, in front of the Royal Palace.

This year, around 12 balloons from different parts of Spain will take to the skies. In the air, pilots will have to put their abilities and skills to the test by taking on challenges such as hitting the target when throwing a marker.

On Saturday, the public will be able to meet the professionals, enjoy the music and see the balloons up close. In addition, everyone will be able to attend the spectacle of their flight.
