Algete Festivities

From 10 to 14 September, the traditional municipal festivities in honour of Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza will be held in Algete. For five consecutive days, the town will be filled with free concerts, orchestras, DJ sessions, fireworks and fairground attractions. In addition, part of the programme will extend beyond these dates: some events in the Santo Domingo housing development and sporting competitions will continue until 20 September.

The opening is scheduled for 10 September. The town will welcome visitors with a street parade, a parade of big-head figures and a youth parade, and the evening will continue with the opening proclamation and the traditional chupinazo. From that moment onwards, the festivities will barely stop until Monday.

The musical offering will be concentrated in Plaza de la Constitución and at the Polideportivo Municipal, where major orchestras, DJ sessions and tribute concerts will alternate. Saturday 12 September promises to be particularly intense: that night, the Queen Revolution tribute will be combined with a pyromusical show and, afterwards, an orchestra and several DJs will perform in succession until almost dawn.

Children will also have their own place in the programme. Family activities include games on inflatable structures, a children’s bull-running event with a cart and Family Day at Parque Europa. The fairground attractions will be open on all five days from 18:00, and every afternoon, from 18:00 to 19:00, they will operate without music so that children and people with particular sensitivity to sound can enjoy them more comfortably.
