At the Teatros del Canal, flamenco guitar returns for a few days to pay tribute to Niño Ricardo and his musical school.
About this event
The Community of Madrid celebrates the third edition of the Guitar Festival, which this year pays tribute to the legacy of Niño Ricardo. The events will take place from 21 to 26 April on the stages of the Teatros del Canal and will bring together flamenco performers from different generations and schools.
The festival continues its series of tributes to key figures in Spanish guitar: after Ramón Montoya and Sabicas, the central figure of the programme is Manuel Serrapí, known as Niño Ricardo. His style laid the foundations of ‘ricardismo’ and influenced an entire tradition of flamenco guitar, from Paco de Lucía to Vicente Amigo.
The programme includes four gala concerts featuring Francisco Viñuesas, Manolo Franco, Chiquelo and José Antonio Rodríguez, joined by Maite Martín, Carmen Linares and Marco Flores.
An independent section of the festival will consist of meetings and performances by guitarists José and Joselito Acedo, Alejandro Hurtado and Rafael Rodríguez, dedicated to the influence of the Niño Ricardo school on contemporary flamenco.
