Pirate descent of the Tagus

Madrid will soon host the Descenso Pirata del Tajo again, in which the most eye-catching vessels will parade.

The Tagus is not only famous for being the setting for Spain’s only freshwater river procession. Every year, at the summit of Aranjuez, it is transformed into the setting for the Descenso Pirata. Amazing vessels float down it, such as those of Caballeros Medievales, the Pegaso del Río Tajo and the Dirigible.

The competition is 42 years old and was created to find the most original and creative boat. This water parade will take place along the river, between the old suspension bridge and the Barcas bridge. It is always accompanied by music, dancing and other entertainment.
