Lecture series “Madrid Metropolis. The Dream of Antonio Palacios”

To mark the 150th anniversary of Antonio Palacios, the Palacio de Cibeles will host, until 30 April, a series of nine lectures on his architectural legacy. Led by Javier García-Gutiérrez Mosteiro and Julián García Muñoz, distinguished experts will address the master’s key ideas: the concept of the metropolis, monumentality, innovative architectural forms and his influence on the development of Madrid.

The public will learn how Palacios used new materials, shaped the metro and combined art with utilitarian architecture. The final lecture will focus on his interactions with his colleagues and his place in history. This series is a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the architect who transformed Madrid into the city of the future.
