Lecture series «Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits»

The Círculo de Artes Libres will host lectures and debates devoted to Nietzsche’s key work Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits.

This book became a boundary for the philosopher: a break with the past, liberation and the beginning of the wanderings of an independent thinker. Here Nietzsche finally moves away from Wagner, the German academy and philology to devote himself to the main task of criticising modernity and nihilism.

He called this work a «monument to the crisis», through which he freed himself from other people’s ideas and entered a new «enlightened» phase of his philosophy. With torch in hand, he breaks with Romanticism and illuminates the darkness of traditional ideals: the genius, the saint, the hero, faith, conviction, compassion and even the «thing-in-itself» itself. All of them are frozen on the threshold of his new philosophical revelation.
