«Hecho a mano» Featherwork Art Workshop

Featherwork has long been a lost treasure of Mesoamerica, an art in which feathers were transformed into pictorial mosaics for priests and rulers. Casa de México's «Hecho a mano» featherwork art workshop will take us from ancient traditions to modern interpretations, exploring the characteristics of feathers and creating our own work with centuries-old techniques.

First we will delve into the history and symbolism of featherwork, then we will design and finally assemble a mosaic inspired by the ancient masters. The workshop is led by Henare Iglesias, who grew up among canvases, fabrics and jewellery. His love of featherwork began at the age of 23, when he discovered its sacred symbolism. Since then, he has recovered ancestral techniques by combining tradition, mathematics and a modern aesthetic.
