In Madrid, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza will organise a morning programme in which painting, gastronomy and opera come together in a single journey through the city.
The day will begin before the usual influx of visitors, with a small-group guided tour of the museum galleries devoted to the ways food has appeared in European painting in different periods. The tour focuses on works connected with banquets, rituals, luxury and everyday life, in which gastronomy forms part of the artistic language.
After the museum tour, the programme will continue at The Palace Hotel Madrid. Under the hotel’s historic dome, guests will be able to enjoy the Opera Brunch: a late brunch with international dishes and a live performance of opera arias accompanied by piano.
