“The Visual Concert”

Madrid is preparing for an unusual musical event: the city will host The Visual Concert, a piano concert in which the musician’s thoughts will be projected on a screen in real time.

The idea is simple but striking: the pianist plays works by classical composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Schumann and Brahms while their brain activity is recorded using a special EEG headset. The signals are processed and turned into waves and coloured shapes, creating a unique visual accompaniment to the music. As a result, every performance is unique, just like the performer’s own thoughts.
