Concert by organist Montserrat Torrent

The recital forms part of the International Organ Cycle that the basilica organises to mark the 50th anniversary of the reconstruction of its historic instrument, one of the capital’s most highly valued. At 99, Montserrat Torrent remains an undisputed figure in classical music in Spain. A pioneer in a traditionally male field, she has received awards such as the Creu de Sant Jordi and the National Music Prize. Her participation in this series is a unique opportunity to hear a living legend whose career has shaped generations of performers. The series, which includes a total of five free concerts, will continue on 5 October with Braulio Caballero-Figueroa, on 12 October with Pierluigi Mazzoni and will conclude on 25 October with Lucie Žáková. All recitals will take place at the Pontifical Basilica of San Miguel (Calle de San Justo, 4, Madrid) at 19:30.
