San Antonio de la Florida festivities

From 11 to 14 June, Madrid will launch its municipal festival season with the San Antonio de la Florida festival, one of the capital’s first summer celebrations. For several days, the city will move to the rhythm of concerts, street traditions, religious ceremonies and outdoor nighttime activities.

The main events will take place in Parque de la Bombilla, which will become the centre of the festivities. Concerts will be held there, traditional sweets will be handed out and there will be nighttime gatherings with live music. Special attention will also be paid to the Ermitas neighbourhood, where the most traditional part of the programme is preserved, from religious services to popular rituals.

One of the festival’s most famous elements remains the pin ritual, an old Madrid tradition connected with the search for future suitors. During these days, it can be seen alongside other popular activities, such as the distribution of blessed bread, processions and street dances.

The last day of the festivities will conclude with a nighttime programme including food-related activities, music and fireworks.
