Screening of the film “El chico”

On 30 May, Teatro Capitol will host a screening of Charlie Chaplin's “El chico” in a film concert format: the film will be accompanied by the Caspervek orchestra, which will perform the music live during the screening.

The screening is organised as a charity evening in support of fostering children. The project is backed by the association ASEAF, which works with foster families throughout Spain.

“El chico”, released in 1921, remains one of Chaplin's most personal and recognisable works. The story revolves around a chance encounter between a tramp and a child, who gradually end up becoming a family. Throughout the film, comedy coexists with themes such as poverty, loneliness and care.

Music holds a special place in this story: Chaplin himself worked on the score, creating melodies that accompany the film almost like an independent narrative voice. During the screening, it will be performed by the Caspervek orchestra, conducted by Brais González, an ensemble known for its concerts at the intersection of classical music and cinema.
