Always classics: masterpieces of German cinema

Enjoy the world of German cinema, the guest of honour of the ‘Madrid, Navidad de Encuentro’ initiative. In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut in Madrid, a programme of fifteen emblematic films was created, tracing the path from silent cinema to modern masterpieces.

Participants include cinema legends: F.W. Murnau, Fritz Lang, Lotte Reiniger, Josef von Sternberg, Alexander Kluge, Margarethe von Trotta, Werner Herzog and Wim Wenders. Particular emphasis is placed on the work of women directors whose films reveal new facets of German art.

This cinematic experience will open up one of the liveliest and deepest chapters of European cinema, which has always kept pace with Germany’s cultural, social and political changes.
