Museo Reina Sofía summer cinema

Summer nights return to the garden of the Sabatini Building with a new edition of Museo Reina Sofía’s open-air cinema. Until the end of August, the museum’s neoclassical space turns every Friday and Saturday into a screening room under the stars, with free admission and a programme devoted this year to an unexpected protagonist: the swimming pool.

Under the title The swimming pool: swim or sink, the series brings together films from different eras and styles that use this space as a setting loaded with symbolism. Beyond summer and leisure, the swimming pool appears as a place where desire, memory, identity, mystery and hidden tensions coexist. The programme combines film classics, contemporary works and experimental proposals, inviting audiences to discover how one and the same setting can give rise to completely different stories.
