On 2 December, Madrid’s Riyadh Air Metropolitano will host one of the most important matches in European women’s football. In the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Nations League final, the Spanish national team will defend its continental title against Germany. The first match of the series will be played on 28 November at the German stadium, and now the decisive one will take place at the modern Madrid arena.
The Spanish team reached the final after an outstanding performance at Euro 2022 in Switzerland, where they won the silver medal, and after defeating Sweden in the semi-finals. Under the leadership of former Atlético de Madrid player Sonia Bermúdez, the team is ready to display technical, spectacular football, combining the experience of the veterans with the talent of the young players.
For the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium, it will be the first time it has hosted a Spanish women’s national team match. Matches of the men’s national team have previously been played there, as have the 2017/18 Copa del Rey and 2018/19 Champions League finals.
