Sant Jordi at the Sant Pau Modernista Site: open day
On 23 April, Sant Pau can be explored without filters. The Modernista Site opens its doors free of charge and offers more than a visit: an opportunity to look at the place with different attention, between the celebration of Sant Jordi and the history that lives in every pavilion.
About this event
This year, the day puts the focus on what is not always seen: the restoration process that has transformed the complex. A temporary exhibition reveals how the space has been worked on, who made it possible and how it has been adapted to new uses without losing its identity.
In the auditoriums, images take over. Screenings, original plans and comparisons show the before and after, while testimony from the technical teams provides context for a transformation that has been both architectural and cultural.
Among gardens, corridors and domes, the route becomes a sum of layers: that of the former hospital, that of the present and that of everything which has made it possible to connect the two.
On a day associated with books and stories, Sant Pau proposes adding another: that of a place that has known how to change without ceasing to be recognisable.
