Open days at City Hall for Santa Eulàlia
Every year, the Santa Eulàlia festivities offer a special opportunity to cross the threshold of Barcelona City Hall and explore it from another perspective. On Saturday 14 February, the building opens its doors so that the public can discover its most representative spaces and glimpse places that normally remain outside the usual circuit.
About this event
The itinerary through the grand halls, entering via the Gothic façade on Carrer de la Ciutat, offers a journey through the city’s institutional memory. Monumental staircases, historic rooms and spaces charged with symbolism — such as the Saló de Cent or the council chamber — reveal how architecture and politics have coexisted in the same space for centuries. Each room preserves traces of the past and explains, without the need for words, the evolution of Barcelona and its municipal government.
The experience is completed by the ascent to the Maria Aurèlia Capmany viewpoint, located in the Edifici Novíssim and accessible from Sant Miquel square. From there, the city unfolds in a 360-degree panorama that makes it possible to recognise roofs, squares and avenues from an unusual perspective.
The visit, accessible for people with reduced mobility, turns City Hall into an open meeting place, where heritage ceases to be distant and becomes part of the collective celebration.
