Christmas at Sant Jaume
In Plaça de Sant Jaume, Christmas once again unfolds as a play of lights that dialogues with the history of Barcelona. This year, the proposal takes a leap towards the sensory: Symphony of Stars, a creation by Xavi Bové Studio, turns the square’s two emblematic buildings into living surfaces where architecture and the cosmos seem to breathe in unison.
About this event
The intervention draws on the classical imagery of this time of year —the returning light, rebirth, warmth in the middle of winter— but reinterprets it through digital arts. The façades are filled with stars that move as if following a silent choreography, and the projection rises until it blends with the real sky, creating a bridge between the city and the universe.
The delicate, enveloping piece offers a rhythm of light that works almost like a collective heartbeat. There are no stridencies: it is a soft, moving symphony that invites you to stop and look. On the nights of 24, 25 and 31 December, as well as 1 and 5 January, the work will change chromatically, celebrating the most symbolic moments of the Christmas calendar.
Sant Jaume thus becomes an open stage where anyone can immerse themselves in this immersive experience under the open sky. A Christmas that not only illuminates the city, but also the way we inhabit and share it.
